Kullu And Near By Tourist places

The Kullu-Manali tourist complex is spread in the entire Kullu valley which is lavishly gifted with superb scenic wealth. Kullu also known as Valley of Gods has numerous temples. Kullu is an awesome travel destination. Known as the ‘Valley of Gods’, it boats of a large number of tourist attractions. Along with that, the place also has some great excursions, which can be visited upon for further expansion of fun and exploration. These locations are equally enchanting and fruitful. Kullu valley offers a scenic charm of peaceful wooded glades and rivers through the rocks. The Dashehra of Kullu is world famous.

Tourist Places Near By Kullu

Katrain
Located at the altitude of 1463 meters above sea level and around twenty kilometers from the city of Kullu, Katrain is in center of the valley. The place is quite known for its apple orchards and trout hatcheries, which lend charm and prominence to the ambience.

Naggar
Erstwhile capital of Kullu, Naggar is located on the left bank of the river Beas and commands an extensive view of the surrounding vistas. There are a large number of famous temples here, notably of Lord Vishnu, Tripura Sundari & Lord Krishna

Bijli Mahadev Temple : ( 2,460 metres ) 11 km. This is one of the most striking temple in Kullu, where 20 metre tall image is supposed to attract special blessings from the skies in the shape of lightning. A 60 feet high staff of Bijli Mahadev temple glistens like a silver needle in the sun. in this temple of lightening it is said, the tall staff attracts the divine blessings in the form of lightening.

Bajeshwar Mahadev Temple : ( bajaura ) 15 km.This pyramidical temple belonging to the 8th century A.D. is embellished with wonderful carvings in stone and sculpture in the Shikhara style. This temple is situated about 200 metres from the village in a plain between the main road and the Beas river.

Manikaran

Manikaran is situated in Parbati Valley at the distance of 32 km from Bhuntar. Manikaran is also known for temple of 'Lord Shiva' who remained in 'Samsadhi' for eleven thousand year in 'Treta Yug' . Temple of 'Maryada Parshotam Ram' Naina Mata and Gurdwara are also there.

Khirganga

Khirganga is situated also in Parvati Valley at a distance of 22Km form Manikaran. For reaching Khirganga one have to go by bus upto Barshaini and form there to Khirganga on foot. This trek leads through hilly terrain.

Bijli mahadev

Bijli Mahadev temple is a 'Khash' style temple that has a 'SHIVLINGAM' installed in it. This tempe is situated in a main Town with lush green forests sin the background, 14 km from Kullu, at height of about 1924m. This place got its ame after the great miracle that occurs occasionally. The Shivlingam is struck by lightening and it breaks into pieces, then the priest of the temple collects all the pieces and joints them to get here with the help of butter, which acts as an adhesive. During July, a great rush of people comes here to pay homage to LORD SHIVA.

Kothi

Bottom of Rohtang Pass Kothi (12km) is a picturesque village and has a thrilling view of the deep gorge through which the beas swiftly races. , an idyllic village, which boasts of a superb view of the deep gorge, and the Beas river rushing through it. Sixteen kms from Manali, at an altitude of 2500 m are the magnificent Easy to get to (except the walk!) The slopes above Kothi are a steep one-hour walk up from the road, but there are excellent thermals coming off the rocks and it is a favourite of the local eagles
